Luch at Dragon Gate Dim Sum Restaurant

Ha!

It's already the second week of school, and we are still slacking and enjoying ourselves as if our school holiday is still existing.

We had our sumptuous lunch at Dragon Gate, enjoying ourselves to a buffet of Dim Sum at Dragon Gate! Despite the many good reviews written about it, to me, the Dim Sum there wasn't that delicious after all. Ipoh's Dim Sum is 10x tastier than this. I would give it a 3/5 stars for the food,it wouldn't make me want to come back for a second time.

Here's the menu for the Dim Sum Buffet (all pics courtesy of other bloggers):

Most Dim Sum dishes consist of pork and prawn ingredients. How good it taste depends not only on the style/way it is cooked, but also the quality of the ingredients used. The dishes are examples of what people always say - "偷工减料" dishes. It contains little bits of prawn and pork with lots of fats inside!

The two dishes I wouldn't recommend to anyone would be the 小笼包and 叉烧包. Their 小笼包 isn't "juicy", and hence end up tasting like Har Gao (Prawn Dumpling). While their 叉烧包... well... unless you like eating the 'bread' part and not the Char Siew, then it's ok. The bread is rather soft and fluffy, which I wouldn't deny that it is tasty. However, their Char Siew is disgusting. It's tastless and filled with fats! Even those normal Char Siew Bao that you find in coffee shops taste better than this.

As for the porridge, it's almost ingredient-less (so... unlike the pic that I've abstracted out from another blogger). We ordered 皮蛋粥, and it contains only 2 small cubes of 皮蛋 (probably 2mm x 2mm big), a little bit of chicken and the porridge itself is tasteless.

Recommended stuff to order would be all those fried food coz it's crispy to eat it!

Below are pics of some of the other food that we ate:
