Finally got my uniform on tuesday, everybody are asking me about it.... so now i am relieved from this question! Wore the uniform today after washing and ironing... seem to be slightly tight for me, should have gotten a bigger size but guess now i can't change it coz they do not have any stock anymore.

Started learning typing yesterday!! haha.... i'm a complete idiot at it! dunno wat to key in and how to use the system... Till now still not sure about it.

My health is in bad state now! Kena flu and fever on tuesday... i used 3 packets of tissue and 3/4 box of tissues provided to the pharmacy... had to ask the aunty to get new box of tissue soon. Took panadol flu in the morning, then chlorpheniramine when i reached the phamacy and hydroxyzine 2 hours later, but i'm still having nose drip 24 hours a day...Still feeling a little feverish and my nose still continue to drip!! when will it ever end???? can't stand this sickly behaviour of me...

I'm frustrated at my access card!

Can't get into the pharmacy yesterday with the card, the system gave me an invalid access!!! Luckily, there's a pharmacist going in too, otherwise i'll be stranded outside and be late! Have to tell Woan Ping about it on Monday.

Comparing the workload with NUH, it is much better, easy-life in TTSH. Nothing much to do yesterday. All the pre-reg have taken up the job as packers, so i practically roam around the pharmacy with nothing to do, though i did some topping up of pre-packs and doing the returns..

The packing ended at around 12+, so all of us actually just walk around and chit chat until 2pm.

I still feel left out, they don't seem to include me into their conversation, and i end up just listening to their gossips and stuff... why is that so????? Am i being cursed???? i don't seem to have any real friends in this world in my life(uptill now)? none had ever actually really treated me as part of their group (even during my poly days?? why????)

5 days have passed by since i started work in TTSH....

1st day:

Couldn't get my uniform yet as it needs to be ordered from the supplier, so..... have to think very hard on what to wear to work these few days..... i'm practically running out of pants to wear already.

The inpatient pharmacy (IP) is located inside the pharmacy office, and only people with the access card is able to go in. The pharmacy there is much bigger than NUH and the responsibilities of each person is greater ( more things to do)

In TTSH IP, we don't need to go to individual ward to top up the medication trolley and the cupboards, here, the nurses will order the required medications through IMR, and we will pack it, then we either tube it up to the wards or a porter will bring it up to them.. so this means that i can 'relax' in the room -> no need to keep walking up and down!

People here are friendly and sociable, also very helpful too. Won't scold us or bad mouth. I prefer them to NUH IP.

We also got a big pantry, unfortunately it is a seperate room from the pharmacy, so quite troublesome to get things.

The so-called bad thing about ttsh is that we have to clock in our time spent in ttsh...so cannot afford to be late and cannot go off early... hai ya ..:( ( bu neng tou lan)

The packing system in TTSH is also different from NUH. The drugs are done in codes, so we actually pack according to the codes stated on the label. Furthermore, for inpatient supply, the packers do not need to refer to the IMR to pack, the typist will just type out all the labels belonging to the ward, and we just pack all the drugs into one basket, the checker will then only do the checking of the IMR and the drugs we packed.

To my surprise, Jasmine and Charmaine chua worked in TTSH too. Jasmine as a lab tech for Baxter that helps us prepare lab stuff, and charmaine working in the outpatient pharmacy. Heard that Eileen is there too, but i haven't seen her yet.

2nd day:

Nothing much was learnt on the 2nd day.... basically, i just did the usual packing and topping up of medications... However, in this IP, they do not really keep a lot of stock like NUH, thus even though the drugs are running low, we are still unable to top it up. Had to keep informing the senior staff about it, so that they can order more stock.

The food court in the hospital is closed for renovation, thus we had to eat out. The food out there are quite nice too. The mixed vegetable rice in the coffee shop is reasonable too, 3 sides cost only $2.50

3rd day:

The returns of medications each day are enormously huge. The hospital could actually hire someone just to do it for the whole day. I would say that the system for return medication is good in ttsh. All returned medications had to be recorded onto both paper and the computer system according to each patient's account ---> coz we actually charged the patients for full supply first then only reduce the charges according to the amount of drugs returned. For safety purpose, all loose tablets returned are throwned away unless each tablet cost more than $0.50. And there are different waste bins for different type of waste ( black bag for normal waste, green bag for confidential waste, yellow bag for hazardous waste....)

Wednesday was the last day for a part-time gal there, boss celebrated her departure at 'california restaurant'. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, unfortunately, it is not nice to eat... think it's because of the onions in the sandwich, end up eating half the bread and the beef only. Thought this meal was a self paid meal, but surprisingly, boss offered to pay for my lunch...hai... could have gotten a better and nicer meal if i knew she was going to pay for my lunch..haha...

4th day:

Took over the part time gal's job of doing the medication return thingy...not a bad job if you want to rest your leg and skive coz you're doing it at the back of the pharmacy, and nobody will know if you're doing it or not..(shhh... can't leak this out)

Had a fire drill yesterday, however i think it's a funny exercise... A 'fake' fire broke out on the 1st level, and thus there were announcements telling us to remain calm. However, the thing is tat, it told us to remain in our respective offices until they check out the situation --> isn't that stupid??? If a fire really breaks out, won't we all die before the situation has been checked and confirmed that we need to evacuate? The next funny thing is that, we are supposed to assemble in the loading/unloading bay if a fire is to occur? what is this????? to assemble underneath the hospital and not to an open space?? I think, if a fire is to break out, i would just straight away run out of the building towards novena sq already.

5th day (today):

Found out more about the life as a pharmacy student and as a pre-reg. Whoever studies phamacy has to do it for 4 years before they graduate, and they had 2 attachments in their study life, 1 attachment is to reatail outlets like gaurdian, while the other is to the hospitals. However, their attachments are not long, heard from a friend of mine, she worked in the hospital for only 6 weeks.

After their 4 years of study, these students have to get a certificate for dispensing, which will last for 1 year ( but they will use the 6 weeks of attachment in the hospital as part of their 1 year pre-reg cert)

Looking at these pre-reg phamacists really deters me from wanting to study pharmacy course...They have alot of things to do and study, could see those pre-regs keep asking the pharmacist quesitons and copying down plenty of notes every minute of their life in the pharmacy. They even had to remember so many things --> like what are the drugs used for, what is usual dosage, what are their pharmacokinetics..blah blah blah..... I'm definitely not that kind of person, i like to have a relaxing life, with little things to remember...

The pre-regs in TTSH came in 2 weeks ago, which means there's a long way to go for them..... Met HX's sister, she's currently working in the IP as pre-reg too....Both sisters really look alike. had the same features, especially the facial features, though mei qi is much taller.

The pre-regs are grouped into groups of 3, and according to the pharmacists there, mostly are gals, if there are guys, they are in a group with 2 gals. Currently, the pre-regs are mei qi, andy and Janice (dunno how to spell her name)

Find that andy to quite nice looking guy, his looks are better than most of the guys that i have seen, except that i think my bro is still the best looking dude so far. Probably its because of his slanted eyes.... ( the 'jian' look). However...i'm not sure if he is really that hardworking or he is trying to boast knowledge to others, asked so many questions and even stayed back to 'help' us pack and do other stuff without any extra pay or whatever. Well anyway, as long as it benefits us,i don't really care... Hmmm... i wonder if this is the kind of attitude a pre-reg have to show??? If that is so.. then i guess the job as a pharmacist is not my kind.

Still have to work tml...so tiring!

Am so proud that i got a job with my first interview!

Went to collect my appointment letter and uniform yesterday. The uniform consist of a top, bottom (pants) and shoes. A complete uniform, no need to worry about the dress code anymore. However the uniform looks like cleaner's uniform, not nice at all, not going to wear it all the way from home to ttsh, will change when i get there.

After that, went for medical check up at aljunied (JAS clinic). Not the kind of clinic that you would expect to go to. An old, not so clean clinic. Think it specialises in screening foreigners, saw a bunch of philipino maids and bangladesh workers in the clinic. The nurses attitude to them and us are very different ( opposite), to them, the nurses would scold and shout, but to us, they will speak to us softly and gently. They even put us in the first priority in the screening. Whoever came to the screening from ttsh, would be screen first eventhough the maids arrived earlier. I've never seen such kind of clinic before, a real eye opener for me.

Ahh... finally after so many months of resting, i got a job at ttsh!

This job finding thing.. has shown me that technology plays a very important part of our lives. Sent your resumes through slow mail, and you will definitely get no replies. But if you do take your time to look for a job through internet, you definitely will get a call from the employer. That's what happened to me. Didn't get a reply for days, when i sent it over through mail, but when i chance upon an advertisement in Jobsdb.com and applied through internet, i got a respond the next day.

Had the interview today early in the morning at 9am. Thought i wouldn't get the job because of my chattiness( it's more like chatting to a friend then being interviewed), i also said alot of stupid things too --> the only available perm job was the inpatient pharmacy, and i told them that i prefer retail pharmacy. By the end of the interview, i thought that i do not have a chance of getting the job,as she told me that there are many applying for the job, and i would only get a reply after 2 weeks.

To my surprise, the HR called me 5 hours later, to confirm that i was selected by them, and am going to work in the inpatient pharmacy. The best news comes out just when you least expects it to come!

Gotta go to hospital tml to sign my appointment letter and for a medical check up.

Got a call from TTSH for an interview! It's gonna be my first serious interview... am excited about it already, but also nervous too.... Wonder how i will fare in the interview, can't predict any questions that they will ask. Let's hope for the best.

Blurr is the word to describe me yesterday. Guess i had too much holiday mood in me, I woke up thinking that it is a friday until i questioned my mum about her not going to work. Lucky i realised it early in the morning or else i could have missed my club's BBQ.

As usual, i only on my handphone in the afternoon. Received a message from XQ requesting for a meet up to update ourselves to the rest of the gang. The SMS goes like this ' Hi sista, wanna meet up for dinner TML or meet earlier for shopping at 1.30pm?' Unfortunately, i did not look at the date of the message and mistook the 'TML' for Sunday, and agreed to her request. Still didn't realised my mistake till after a few messages, where she mentioned that she was going to be late. haha... what a blur queen i was yesterday, ended up meeting them at around 3.30pm.

Everyone of them had found a job except me... feel kinda awkward at that point. (XQ at citibank, Winnie at CONRAD hotel, lala at ??? some company that she doesn't want to mentioned) Hai... now i just need to wait for the reply from the hospitals. Hope to find one soon and get the money to pay for my expenses now!

Tired for the day's walk in city hall, we ended up in 'noochbar' restaurant, just beside CONRAD hotel. The whole stretch of restaurants were all selling japanese food. I was decieved by the looks and the price of the set meals in this restaurant. They hung up signs saying that their set meals are only $5.90, and i thought that it would be quite cheap to have a set meal at this price and this kind on environment. To my horror, the $5.90 set meals are only limited to a few simple set meals only, so we ended up ordering other dishes. The pictures on the menu looks good to me, however, it didn't taste as good as it looks. The steamed dumplings taste plain, and the green tea ice cream for desert didn't have the green tea taste in it. The waiters weren't that polite and friendly either, one of them even sort of 'threw' our food on the table, he had the 'bu shuang' look on him. But anyway, who cares so much, had a great 1 hour chat with them in the restaurant.

Met XQ bf on the way home, he just finished his job in the exhibition at suntect city. Quite a nice guy, though i think he is too shy for a guy. Made a fool out of him on our way back home. Quite a gentleman, sent XQ all the way home even though its only 10pm.

Went for club's BBQ gathering at Deborah's house after that. Can't afford to miss it since it's the last time i will be spending my time with them.

Got off at the wrong bus stop and had to walk a long eerie way to deb's private house. phew~! Lucky nothing happened to me on the way there.

Thought i could used an air con to cool myself down after the hot walk to her house, but was greeted by surprised that joanne was crying softly in the air-con room (deb's room). Didn't know what to do then, so end up sitting in the room getting myself cooled while watching some gals calming her down.

Ahh... ppl do get emotional these days! Joanne cried bcoz of us going off, like a group of friends being 'disband' and also bcoz some ppl didn't go for the bbq. Just as i thought, this crying thing have stop, audrey began to cry too, and suddenly she hugged me tightly. Ow~~ don't get so mushy man... i know you guys missed us, but you don't have to cry....
